To Meredith

Are you?
Are you?
Are you still  beautiful?
I bet you are.

This post is dedicated to my dear sweet cousin, Meredith.  I first bonded with her when she was 7 years old and as cute as all outdoors.  She is beautiful now, a real Major League Babe -- or at least a Major League Babe-In-Training (look at her Mom to see where she is going).  Unfortunately, I can’t see that anymore.
Meredith is turning 15
She must be really blossoming
I bet she’s a real beauty queen
She grabs my heart, and I do sing:

Obe-la-dee, obe-la-dye
Life goes on, sigh
Tho its passin’ me by

As I look back on a memory
Ah, I think of twinkle toe shoes
Hope you got ‘em under your tree
Obe-la-dee, obe-la-doees

Obe-la-dee, obe-la-dye
Life goes on, sigh
Tho its passin’ me by

....

Untitled

I wonder if I still can
Stand tall in my mama’s heart
I wonder if I still can
Stand tall in my daddy’s eye
I wonder if I still can
Greet a tassel head with “Boo Boo”
I wonder if I still can
Fly high like a bird in the sky

I wonder if I still can
Make friends like there is no end
I wonder if I still can
Remember better days
I wonder if I
I wonder
I

A Poem For Pat

And a nod to Bob Seger:

Just take those old records off the shelf
I sit and listen to ‘em by myself
I turn ABBA up real loud
I’m part of the dancin’ crowd

In my mind, we go ‘round and ‘round
Lights flash to the beat of the sound
There is no pausing in between
Look at me, I’m the dancin’ queen!

Don't Let It Be

The days roll on by, and darkness is all I can see
And I’m searching for an answer for me
I feel the warmth of a light shining down on me
Shine onto tomorrow, don’t let it be

Oh, yeah, don’t give up
Don’t stop believin’
Don’t ever give up
Hold on, hold on to that feelin’

Don’t go gently into that good night
Don’t give up, ah, don’t ever give up
Instead of saying “goodbye” to sight
Slap tomorrow in the face, chin up
Don’t give up, ah, don’t ever give up
Don’t let it be, don’t let it be

Hey, Paul McCartney, Jim Valvano, Journey and Robert Frost -- that’s a good days work!  :p

Those Bricks Of NC State

I had a fella Wolfpacker challenged me to write a poem ’bout the red brick sidewalks of NC State -- this is what I got so far:

Cutting across the Court of Carolina
The red brick sidewalks of NC State
Pass beneath my feet, my friend
Reminds me of a better time
When the days seemed to never end
And the future was all mine

Big Boobs

Some of my friends feel that they have been, uh, challenged in the boob department.  I wrote this for them (and fans of AC/DC will recognize the inspiration)....

You got big boobs, your boobs are always bouncing to the left to the right
For those of us who like to watch, it is an amazing sight

You got big boobs, your boobs never sag, your boobs never fall
And everybody says you got the biggest boobs of all

When you strip off your school girl uniform
Your boobs will pop out
Your cups runneth over, straining your bra
Makes me want to shout :

You got big boobs, your boobs are so firm, your boobs are perky
And everybody says you got the finest boobs to see

You got big boobs, I got big boobs, we all got big boobs
This is my heaven, my heaven of big boobs!

Seriously, the size of your boobs is not important -- what is important is who they are attached to… and that they are available for a lil’ fun!  ;)

Ode To Bella

Please Don’t Cry, Live And Let Die!

Please
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry for me
Girl, I love you so, I want you
To dry your eyes, wipe away your tears
Please
Don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry for me
Girl, lets try to find, find a way
To roll back, ah, roll back those years

There is a girl who’s been on my mind, all the time
She is no fella, ah-h, her name is Bella

My mood is not always sour
I do laugh as well as cry
It’s not always my darkest hour
But sometimes --
You gotta say live and let die!
