Happening With

As she, she gets out, she gets about

The world will notice, the world will shout

She’s turning thirteen, the world will say

O happy birthday, the world will “yay!”

Oh, Meredith, oh, Meredith

Happening with, oh, Meredith

Happening with, oh, Meredith

She is, she’s a babe-o-licious

With a blonde pony-tail hangin’ down

A wiggle in her walk

A giggle in her talk

She makes the rockin’ world go ‘round!

As she, as she starts to make her way

All that I can say, Happy B’Day!

The Years We Wasted

Sometimes I get in a Country mood and write Country poetry which, I think, would make a good country song.  If only I knew someone in Country music.  [rolleyes]

Um, the years we wasted

They seem so long ago

Can we ever get them back!?

I don’t know, I don’t know

But it is worth a shot

I have always loved you

Can we get the years back!?

I don’t know, let’s try to

Over there, I saw you cry and sing the blues

Over here, there was nothing that I could do

Is it too late, oh, to get the years back!?

I don’t know, let’s try to, let’s try to

Oh, the years we wasted

Time marches on, it won’t slow

Is it too late to get them back!?

I don’t know, maybe so

Amazing Grace

I’m going to Hell.  Shall I save you a seat!?  :p

Amazing Grace, looking up her dress

Seeing what is, what is it

Panties are not the best things in life

But they are next to it!

Humor, too, is one of His creations -- even bawdy humor!  :D

But seriously:

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

Once was lost, never to be found

Once blind, I still can’t see

O damn You, God, damn You to Hell

Why have you foresaken me?

I really want to know, please do tell

Divine plan? I don’t see

My faith’s been shot and left for dead

Faith is dead, pray for me

In the middle of the roadbed

Preacher man, I can’t see

Amazing Grace, a load of shit

A promise was made to me

Of eternal life, but forget it

Preacher, don’t lie to me

Miss Sara's Cabin

So, I went to see Sara

Out in Californiland

I checked into her cabin

And she took me by the hand

She lit up a candle

And she showed me the way

Voices in the whispering wind

Thought I heard them say

Welcome to Miss Sara’s Cabin

Such a lovely place, such a lovely face

Plenty of room at Miss Sara’s Cabin

Anytime of year, you can find it here

Mirrors on the ceiling

Shag carpet on the wall

Stuck in a ‘70s porn movie

Miss Sara’s cabin has seen it all

The last thing I remember --

I snatched my hand away

Stabbing it with their crusty knives

I knew I had to get away

Relax, said Miss Sara

I am programed to please

You can check out anytime you like

But you can never leave!

Don't Ask

Please don’t ask how I’m doin’?

I’M JUST SITTING HERE, WAITING FOR THE END

I REMEMBER WHEN  WHEN WE WERE FRIENDS

There is no future calling for me

No future that I can see

I’M ON MY LAST LEG, WAITING FOR TO GO

UP AROUND THE BEND, UP AROUND THE BEND

An Unfinished Life

There are times when I sit and wonder

Whatever became of me

I really do not want to go now

An unfinished life for me

O, what I would have done

If only I’d had more time

Great things you would have seen

But I, I needed more time!

I’m ready to breathe my last

Time to put out lights

Cry for what might have been

An unfinished life

There are times when I sit and wonder

An unfinished life is what I see

My Rest Home

(sung to the tune of “Deadman’s Curve”)

Cruisin’ in my Rascal slidin’ across the floor

Burnin’ rubber, strippin’ gears, bumpin’ into your door

Challenge there and then to drag, two dash hounds

Ol’ man Woot’s bedpan will be out-of-bounds

‘Round the nurse’s station, IVs to drain

Depends for you and me in victory lane

My rest home, it’s no place to play

My rest home, best to keep away

Won’t survive my rest home!

* cough, wheeze, cough *

And More...

I’m too busy living to worry ‘bout dying

I, I am not lying, I am, I’m crying

I am not ready to go yet

This show ain’t over, you know, ye

Do not remember me for what I’ve become

A balding broke down ol’ coot, that’ a nice sum

Remember me for what I was

I was eye candy, had that buzz

My faith’s been shot and left for dead

In the middle of, of the roadbed

Nobody Likes Sad Poetry

I started writing poetry to give a parting gift to my nephew and my niece, the two most important people in my life.  I feel like I’ve been a miserable failure and wanted to leave a message from the other side (oh, gosh, this sounds mighty “The Twilight Zone-ish” :p ).  Most of my poetry is pretty pedestrian -- tho, every once in a while.  :D

Nobody likes sad poetry

Or so I have been told

But i just got let it out

Before I get too old

Oh, Turner, ah, Bailey

Can you, can you hear me!?

Lend me your ear before I die

I’ve got something to say

It’s not really that important

Sorry for wast’ning your day

Oh, Turner, ah, Bailey

You still list’ning to me!?

I wish I had been a better uncle

I wish I had been a better friend

I wish I had been better

‘Til the end

I've Never Seen A Night As Long

Fans of Hank Williams may recognize the inspiration, but this poem is mine.

I’ve never seen a night as long

Where time, where time keeps draggin’ on by

The midnight train does wail its song

I’m so lonesome I, I could cry

I wonder what you’re doing tonight?

Are you, are you makin’ love with him?

The clock does tick, you’re out of sight

The clock chimes so, it’s 3 a.m..

I’m so lonesome I, I could cry

The early bird does sing his song

The sun does rise high in the sky

I‘ve never seen a night as long

Glenn Frey 1948 - 2016

I’d rather be remembered as something else

Than not remembered at all

I don’t know where I’m going, but I do know where I’ve been

I’ve created a ruckus, and I’ve wallowed in sin

When that train whistle blows, and I’m heading south

I’ll be sure and give one last shout

Me and Glenn Frey will ride those rails

We’ll take it easy, take it easy

Don’t let the sound of those steel wheels

Drive you crazy, just take it easy

Oh, lighten up while you still can

Don’t even try to understand

Just take it easy, take it easy

King Bear

Some people say he’s only a stuffed gorilla

But, you know, I say he sleeps on his own pillow

Bear, Bear, he‘s sassy like a King

Bear, Bear, he should have his own ring

King Bear

Born in a K-mart with an empty heart

Now, he sleeps with me, now, warming our hearts

King Bear

Thanks for singing along, Bear!

I Can't Sleep

Lyin’ here and staring at ceiling

Composing poems in my head

Waiting for a sleepy feeling

My plan, stay in bed, stay in bed

No, I can’t sleep, I can’t sleep

Another night of counting sheep

I’m so tired

A night of battles, who has won?

As I wait for the sunrise

A war rages, it’s never done

Night after night, something dies

No, I can’t sleep, I can’t sleep

Another night of counting sheep

I’m so tired

The next day is almost deadly

With eyes that are so, so heavy

I’m so tired

Gimme Three Steps, Ryan

think ’leh-nerd skin nerd’

I was making time, doing just fine

With that sweet Emily

Well, in burst Ryan Cross, showing who’s boss

Pointing his gun at me

Wait a minute, Ryan, we just playin’

Please, please no trouble here

I cried above the din, we are kin

But I was shakin’ with fear

Gimme three steps

Gimme three steps, Ryan

Gimme three steps toward the door

Gimme three steps

Gimme three steps, Ryan

And you’ll never see me no more

Well, Emily jumped Ryan from behind

And that’s the break I was looking for

Coulda heard me a-screamin’ a mile away

As I was runnin’ out from the door!!
